경국지색(傾國之色) 서시 (西施)

116 Simei | Xishi (西施) 🐠 Xishi (506BC -?) was ancient China's bewitching spy. It starts with a feud between the King of Yue and King of Wu. The Yue King's minister suggests training beautiful women and offering them to the Wu King as tribute (women were his kryptonite). Bewitched by Xishi's beauty, the Wu King is coerced into killing his best advisor. Wu's strength dwindled, allowing the King of Yue to launch a successful strike in 473BC. Xishi's beauty was described to be so extreme that when leaning over at a lake, fish forgot to swim and sank below the surface. It is uncertain how she died but one version goes that she had fallen in love with the Wu King and so drowned herself. 🐟 (Source: Wikipedia 🙈)

경국지색이라는 말은 한서(漢書) 이연년의 시에서 유래된 것이라고 합니다.서시는 오(吳)나라가 망한데 역할이 컸다고 평가한다고 합니다.
